Endeavour - The Final Mission

Everything is building up here to the final launch of the space shuttle Endeavour which is scheduled to lift off from Kennedy at 3.47p Friday. (8.47p in the UK).  Weather at present looks good to go with an 80% chance of favourable conditions.

Any last minute hitches!...just give me a call, I'll be there with my sonic screwdriver and mole wrench, service manual tucked under my arm.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

All the crew will be wearing Gifford bracelets in support of Gabby Giffords, Mark's wife who was shot in Tucson during a political rally.  She is a Democrat member of the House of Representatives.  She will be present at Friday's launch.

Re: Endeavour - The Final Mission

Thanks Petlew, that's fascinating.  I've seen various parts of the operation over the years but never seen the whole event at one time.
The transporter which moves the shuttle travels at around 1 mph.  A few facts on it:

President Obama is flying into Florida today for the shuttle launch.  He is the first president to view a launch since Clinton in 1998.

Today's weather update for Endeavour's launch has decreased to 70 percent "go" because of a chance for a low cloud ceiling and crosswinds.

Severe weather in Alabama yesterday to blame.
