Empty emails

Over the last week or so I've been getting quite a few emails with no subject, no message nothing in the 'To' field and 'Sent' field is blank. The header is:
Quote
Return-path: <Chapman_Nathaniela1@biknows.com>
Envelope-to: random@<mydomain>.plus.com
Delivery-date: Fri, 01 May 2015 14:26:09 +0100
Received: from [176.215.11.3] (helo=dynamicip-176-215-11-3.pppoe.ekat.ertelecom.ru)
by inmx02.plus.net with smtp (PlusNet MXCore v2.00) id 1YoAxF-0002u2-Jm

With no attachment that could contain mailware, virii, etc. and no read/received request what is the point of these?

Re: Empty emails

Hadn't thought of that.
So, by not bouncing they can assume it's an active address and start bombarding me Angry

Re: Empty emails

Yes although it's not 100% effective method of testing an inbox as not all servers bounce emails, some use a postmaster, postoffice, webmaster, mailer-daemon address and so it is not fool proof.
Typically though if it doesn't bounce in some way shape or form then it could be assumed that the address is active.
