One of my ex colleagues at Yorkshire TV has emailed me a clip from The One Show, which showed the Emley Moor TV Transmitter Tower, from first construction, to being brought down by Ice in 1969, and rebuilt in Concrete.
Interesting to anyone that remembers it at the time.
It's probably available on BBC iPlayer for anyone that is interested.

I did see the item on One Show.
One forgets Emley Moor is marginally higher that Eiffel Tower.
When we drive north to Huddersfield we get glimpses from M1 and a good view when we drive from Jn38 on normal roads.
Quite often the top isn't visible.
Would love to go up in the lift - it's 58 years since I flew paper aeroplanes from top of Eiffel Tower

Seems an appropriate time to link a scary video.....well scary for those of us who hate heights.
It's not the Emley Moor tower but it's high and scary.

Are you sure ?
I've been up in the lift a few times, it is not enclosed, it is an open metal lattice, and very cold inside !!
Don't look down !!
At the top, even though the structure is solid concrete, you get the impression that strong gusts of wind cause the tower to move slightly !!
But fantastic views.
Similar experience at Winter Hill.
