Oh yes, that was when I tried, and failed, to add my email address on MS Office Outlook.
Good old Microsoft, I'm getting almost fond in my old age...

Only microsoft could claim to add an extra security challenge and instead of telling you what to do, provide details of the suspect activity instead (then telling you that you can completely ignore the email and presumably the extra security if it was you).
Muppets..
Late edit, changed 'emails' to 'details'
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Since moving to Plusnet, the mother's had her hotmail account blocked by M$, because it was being access from an unauthorised IP address (yet they've allowed several IP addresses since the account was set up????), and they added an extra security step (verify who you are by answering 100 questions about the account that bear no relation to how the account is used) and demanding she had a code texted or telephoned to her, except the numbers on the account were ancient and long since cut off, and calling their support people proved fruitless as they don't support their own email system, so, screw 'em...
And they wonder why people are moving over to Linux and other email suppliers...

Yes, basically they were blocking themselves.
They asked for me to add security options. I really hope they don't insist on changing my security details again, and incur another 30-day period of being locked out of my account, for 'security' purposes...
Pity about all of this. I like the fact MS are bothered about security these days, they've just taken it a bit too far.
