Lady Nugget to you Sir!

I never have understood how this woman ended up in the Labour Party. Much more LibDem.

Resettlement Grant

The Resettlement Grant motherhood is the name given to the MPs' severance pay package. It may be claimed to help former MPs with the costs of adjusting to life outside parliament. It is payable to any Member who ceases to be an MP at a general election. The amount is based on age and length of service, and varies between 50% and 100% of the annual salary payable to a Member of Parliament at the time of the dissolution.[2]

In the UK the first £30,000 of severance pay is tax-free. As stated above, the amount retiring MPs, or those who lose their seats receive, depends on how old they are and how long they have served in the House. For example, an MP who stays in office for one term (say 5 years) and then leaves office will currently receive tax-free severance pay of 50% of their current salary, or £32,383 at current rates – equivalent to an annual salary increment of over £12,000 at current tax rates and pay scales.[25]

one rule for them and another one for the rest of us.

Re: Election Result - your comments please !

Quote from article in todays Spectator..  Some of the Labour party, John McDonnell in particular seem to have learned nothing from their recent thrashing..

Today there have been rumours reported by the Guardian's Heather Stewart that Angela Rayner has formed a pact with her flatmate Rebecca Long-Bailey to run on a joint ticket, with Rayner standing for deputy while Long-Bailey goes for the top job. If you haven't already read Katy's politics column on the contest, you must: she writes that Rayner and Long-Bailey have agreed that they won't both stand for the leadership. With the endorsement of John McDonnell, the pair will be standing for continuity Corbynism, something many other Labour MPs are keen to avoid. But the big unknown is what the party's membership concludes after it has left its current state of shocked grieving. Can the 'moderates' really get a hearing with the members, or will they still be longing for a more palatable Corbynite offer?

Droll!  Probably the moderates (aka sensible ones are claustrofourbic.

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: Election Result - your comments please !

i see Boris is adding a legal clause to withdrawal agreement that will make it illegal to

keep UK attached to EU past 31 Dec 2020,  that means if a deal not agreed by

then we will revert to WTO terms.  This should focus the minds of EU negotiators who would like

to delay UK slipping out of its sphere of influence as long as possible... Amazing how the attitude of

EU has changed now they know we are leaving rather than an endless series of groundhog days cause

by the EU 5th columnists that gave them hope we would not leave and removed any pressure to treat us

seriously and get a move on....  The added clause will mean they have a ticking clock they cannot ignore.

Re: Election Result - your comments please !

Sorry seemed to be the hardest word when it came to antisemitism in the Labour party, but lose an election and the leadership is queuing up to be crucified yet again only this time by it's members after already being nailed up by the voting public.

What went wrong for them? Corbyn, confusion over Brexit, and outrageous promises.

Simples.
