Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

Thanks, @shutter  - fortunately, I remembered, now all I've got do is remember which clocks/timers I'll have to change manually.😀

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

yay, government mandated clock fiddling time again............

Left my manual analogue clocks set to GMT all year, so they'll be correct (according to whoever decides what time it is) again, but it's daft that they insist that 12pm during BST is midday when it's actually 1pm, where the sun is at its highest point in the day, the earth's orbit doesn't change, the earth's rotation doesn't go back & forth by 1 hour, it's just a twice-a-year annoyance... 🙄

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

.... and the hours of daylight saved?

Absolutely none, it's all exactly the same as it was.

What a load of steaming 💩this twice annual farce is.

😃

Am I right in thinking that this is the last change, I'm sure I read somewhere that this isn't happening in 2020. But I may well be wrong.

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

@Anonymous I think you may be wrong - all calendars I have seen for 2020 still show changes at the end of March and October.

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

Well thanks for reminding me - is it just me getting older, or does it become more confusing now that some clocks auto adjust themselves and some don't?

Well my wall clock certainly won't!

Was easier back in the day when you had to do all your clocks manually 😄

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

I don`t understand all the negative thinking about this.... I never hear any about the "moveable feast"  bank holiday(s)... that change from year to year...

Easter.... when Christ is "supposed" to have died and resurrected himself.... how come he dies and comes back to life a different weekend every year?   his birthday remains the same date   ? ? ?

and what abut the communist Red flag day... MAY DAy  bank holiday?   keeps moving about..

There are other dates that change throughout the years too, but I can`t remember them... indeed it doesn`t bother me at all...

But... again.. don`t hear the regular "nay saers" on here complaining, or making a big deal out of it...

Changing the clocks is a "ritual" the same as bonfire night... or Christmas  or New year... it`s part of our culture, and  defines the seasons for us... Summer time is ending.... so now we have to prepare for the winter to come... what`s the big deal?

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

I knew I'd read the story somewhere, but it appears to only be a proposal to end this in 2021.

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

Ah but that's not the point @shutter IF we are out of the EU by then and they vote to abandon this then I think we (the UK) will have to follow, as not following would cause to much disruption and confusion.

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

@shutter

But May Day is always on the same date as is Christmas, and none of them require us to change our clocks or in those cases our calendars.

Hang on though, you may be right, as my rubbish always goes out on a Monday... except when it's a bank holiday!

Re: Early warning - Clocks go back this weekend

@Minivanman  Mayday is on the same DATE...but the holiday moves about..... Doh!

Easter moves from weekend to weekend... depending..... but Christmas day remains the same date. and is a holiday, regardless of the day.  strange that you don`t complain about these things...

yet you  moan about changing the clocks twice a year, every year you have been on here ! ! ! ! ! . ( along with a few other naysayers! !) .
