Good to know that the EU have no major problems taking up their time.

Looks similar to monitoring Ofcom/samknows that some of us already take part in.

Re: EU is looking for volunteers to measure broadband performance.

Looks interesting, but there's no way I'm connecting all of my devices through it.  If I was allowed to put the Whitebox on its own separate VLAN for it to do its periodic testing I'd sign up no worries, but giving an anonymous piece of kit full access to my LAN? You have -got- to be kidding.  Who knows what else it sniffs, measures and reports..

Those of us participating in the existing monitoring do know.  Wink

What, you mean to say they don't encrypt their upload data?

Re: EU is looking for volunteers to measure broadband performance.

we are given a username and password to log in and look at the info they have.
dont know about the "New" white box, but I have a Cisco that connect to my Thompson via ethernet and any more ethernet unit I want connect to the Cisco and not the Thompson.
Mine has gone flaky on me and I am waiting to see what they are going to do, maybe a new White Box

Thanks for your interest dear EU bureaucrats but this is none of your business. The UK is quite capable of sorting this out for itself.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

My initial acceptance email from SamKnows, 18 months ago, referred to a white box but mine was black - Linksys WRT160NL powered by Linux.

mine one of those,  they just told me to do this

To help resolve this issue, please reboot the SamKnows White box. Once
rebooted please switch on and off using the power button at the rear
of the device.

a) how do you reboot it
b) what power button?
the only sign of any button is a small factory reset one.. I did the best I could and got it to do four more reading this week, but thats all, waiting for a reply from them

Re: EU is looking for volunteers to measure broadband performance.

The only button mine has is in centre of front row of lights and there's no power button at rear.
Just found instruction sheet that came with device and that doesn't really help.
