Dying for some good news !

There seems to be a "penchant" for announcing that some personality or other,  has died, on this forum.... We will all die eventually... Life is like that.... The News Broadcast stations, on TV and Radio, do an excellent job, in reporting these "events" and follow up with a "life of.......... "  programme to "celebrate" their life/achievements, and once that has been broadcast, ( to improve their viewing figures probably ) they promptly forget about them and "move on" to other subjects and that dead person is completely forgotten.

Life is for the LIVING... and we have enough "sad news" with wars between countries, and wars between drug cartels, etc.memaning that.. someone is murdered every day...  It`s become a "way of life"  or should that be " a way of death"..

It just seems pointless to me, that these announcements are made here, just "copycatting" the media announcements as if nobody had ever seen or heard about it anywhere else...

In othe words..... I`m Dying For Some Good News....  Perhaps I`ll win the lottery tonight, and be able to share that with you all....( just the announcement..... not the winnings ! )...

@shutter

True enough, we all die in the end.

I often think how fortunate I am having got to 70 + and still able to do the things I want to do.

As you say life is for living.

Is one persons life or death any more or less important than anyone elses ?

It would seem so.... if you are a "hannger on"... and like to "name drop" certain celebrities.......

The "press" (news and magazine) , and "broadcasters" LOVE to report these events, because they generate more sales/views to their particular media...ity also "fills in" on "slow news days, if they can "Pad it out a bit, with some personal life history"....

Individuals who "re-post" these announcements gain only on their own ego.

Most "celebs" have their own "fan clubs" so, those who WOULD be interested, would already be informed, either by the media, or by the fan club email announcement/website announcement.  Conversely, anyone NOT INTERESTED does not need to be so informed, as they consider that particular entity is a "non-entity" in their personal lives.

I agree with your statement.... " I often think how fortunate I am having got to 70 + and still able to do the things I want to do."

I agree with all the comments in this topic so far.

I have posted some announcements of well known people passing away but one post is enough.

Some posters not only post but then bump their posts and I wonder why.

I won on the premium bonds this month

The bad news is I got a reminder that my dental check up appointment is due.

Ah well at least it will cover that.

Let's hope you don't need any dental work doing otherwise you will need a big win to cover it.
