Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist?

According to the BBC, Facebook gives its moderators psychological assistance. Does PN do the same?

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Is psychological assistance the same thing as seeing a psychiatrist?

Re: Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist?

I think that question is more philosophical than psychiatric!

No sane and rational person would volunteer for the (unpaid) job of moderator - I speak from experience! Crazy3

Re: Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist?

The mods do a good job despite recent critical comments following locking of chat.

Without the mods there would be no chat or indeed any of the other boards which have helped many with various problems.

But it does beg the question ' why would anyone want to be a mod ' ?

There is enough aggro in most people's everyday life why volunteer for more being a mod ?

But thanks for doing the job I certainly could not do it.

With people like us; Yes

Re: Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist?

It must be extremely depressing being a moderator on Facebook. Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist? No but some forum members might.

Re: Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist?

It must be difficult work for the mods, I am sure we can all agree. I thank them for it.

I ran a small forum a few years ago, only around 30 people. So nowhere near the scale of the size of this forum of course.

Someone was in a relationship, and then moved onto someone else. Obviously the ex was not happy and was posting quite heated comments (yep you can all use your imagination there).

I was an admin at the time so had to move said posts to an admin accessible only board.

So I have a bit of moderating experience - but just a small amount Smiley

Re: Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist?

It is a difficult task @Alex

I ran/moderated a Facebook 'buy and sell' page a good while back. Early days for that kind of thing and in no time at all there were a couple of thousand members - but did they all follow the rules? Not on your nelly.

Posters were advised on joining; no animals, no businesses, no repeat posts (bumping) and no obscene language.

Got so fed up with being ignored I just shut the whole circus down in the end. Crazy2

Re: Do the Mods need to see a psychiatrist?

Hmm @rongtw

A slightly more subtle way of banning really though isn't it?

I wonder if the Lithium software supports it Cheesy
