Again, another story you couldn't make up
Export ban for useless 'bomb detector'
I suppose testing a bomb detector would contravene HSE regs

the nitwits in charge in iraq are claiming that they work perfectly well.  it's that or admit you've been had ennit?
why has the maker of these things been arrested?  he's only marketing his woo in exactly the same way as the homeopaths and other woo merchants.  perhaps it's because he's caused embarrassment in the form of egg on faces in high places?

What amazes me is that somebody in the Iraqi government saw fit to buy a load of these things without consulting anybody technical. Anyone with a modicum of scientific or engineering training would have seen through it straightaway.
