Day of the Doctor = Was it good?

Just watched "Day of the Doctor" on BBC 1, how was it? What did everyone think?

Re: Day of the Doctor = Was it good?

My only complaint was that they should've had more of the older Doctors, it was after all called "Day of the Doctor", appearances from the likes of Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy would've been nice, even if they are a bit long in the tooth now for the action scenes.

At least they have reincarnated the Daleks for future use.

It must have been up almost immediately, as get_iplayer had grabbed it for me around 10pm

I'm afraid we were disappointed. Why can't the writers just do a simple story so kids can understand what the hell the story is about? Always a complete mystery. The only good but was the last five minutes!

Re: Day of the Doctor = Was it good?

There was lots of action and I actually felt it was one of Moffat's better scripts but I haven't particularly like the direction he has taken the Doctor over the last few years. I found the plot to be, mostly, followable with a few of exceptions.
What I didn't like;
Joanna Page's QE1 - just irritating - "You're a bad copy" said Tennant - he got that right Wink
Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart - Somewhat reminded me of Penelope Wilton 's Harriet Jones.
Billie Piper as Rose? Bad Wolf Billie! I was pleased to see her but disappointed that there was no interaction with Tennant.
What I did like:
David Tennant was back and out-acted and outclassed Matt Smith
John Hurt in every one of his scenes
Tom Baker - never expected that and was a great moment.
The use of clips of all the other doctors towards the climax.
The reappearance of that scarf lol.
Best dialogue: John Hurt's Doctor: "Am I having a mid-life crises?"
Lot's of humour and in-gags which I appreciated and a few nods to the past Doctors.
All in all I did enjoy the romp but it didn't meet all the hype foisted on it over the last few weeks.
Edit Cheesyid anyone else see the mini episode The Night of the Doctor.

We all agreed that it was a quality bit of TV for a change, well worth the money spent. I must admit the BBC is putting out some pretty cra.p stuff atm.

A reasonable episode, far better than  recent storylines which  sadly have gone downhill  with the current writer. I agree it would have been nice to see more of the recent doctors in the flesh and  assistants for that matter. Makes you realise how good David Tennant  is as a actor.

a jolly nonsensical romp full of in jokes and references.  i watched it because john hurt was in it.  he's always worth watching.

Re: Day of the Doctor = Was it good?

I watched it for David Tennant, IMO the second best Doctor after the one I'm watching on DVD as I write, Tom Baker.
