DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website
Universal Jobmatch set to be jettisoned after it was found to be carrying a series of fake, repeat or fraudulent jobs ads
A cache of documents seen by the Guardian details how the government's main website for job hunters – which tens of thousands of unemployed people have been required by the DWP to sign up to – is likely to be jettisoned when the contract for the service comes up for renewal in two years.
A year and a half after its launch, Universal Jobmatch has been ridiculed for hosting numerous fake jobs, including one for an MI6 "target elimination specialist" and "international couriers" for CosaNostra Holdings, as well as listings for pornographic websites.
Not to mention the millions that Monster jobs USA acquired for the contract
I forget the exact reported figure
Quote
The project to digitise job-searching activity for millions of unemployed people has been beset with problems from its start. The DWP was forced to rerun the bidding process for the contract and previously leaked documents detail how the department had to pay compensation to one of the failed bidders.
The multimillion-pound contract was won by Monster but Iain Duncan Smith's department has been struggling to justify its rapidly rising expenditure. Civil servants say that the US company, which pioneered online recruitment two decades ago, has demanded an extra £975,000 to clear Universal Jobmatch of fraudulent employment ads.

Looks like the USA taking UK for a ride (YET AGAIN)
How many mouths could be fed on the extra £975,000 that MONSTER wants ?Huh
They certainly live up to their name
However why approach a website that you would be in direct competition with anyhoo ?Huh
Especially when it does not benefit the UK's financial situation ?Huh
So many questions remain unanswered

Re: DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

the real question is about why there wasn't a properly setup system to have any due diligence performed on anyone attempting to register an advertisement .....
this is typical on everything undertaken within the public domain, rather than hiring a subject matter expert on a standard employment contract to  project manage things and create the statement of business needs they come up with a dream list and then advertise for tenders, then opt for the second most expensive option (based on its offering the best value for money) start realising that they messed up certain aspects of the original requirements and begin issuing change requests which in order not to affect the day to day cost basis mean the withdrawal of various aspects of the primary service (the bits that made it the best value for money offering in the first place)  and end up with a worse iteration than the flawed system they started with, scrap it and start all over again with a new doomed to failure project, then on round 3 having learnt from the mistakes of the two previous failures enter into a new system that "just works", fail to move with the times for the next decade and end up with something that's so totally out of touch with the needs of society it needs replacing and they are forced to undergo the same rigmarole as before due to changes in staff and administration that have shed anyone with an ounce of intelligence.....
the system whilst still utterly chaotic was at least run far better when crown immunity for the civil service was present but now that they can all individually be held to account for anything nobody will take ownership of anything in case they get blamed for any failings in the delivered item.....far to much ass covering and dawdling for anything to be considered value for money now!
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

Re: DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

How can they actually justify the ££££££MILLIONS££££££ of money for old rope syndrome (for lack of better words atm) that the DWP is alleged to have been the major downfall here, when in fact they have 90% to blame the other 10% is MONSTER that ripped the UK off knowing what the DWP was up to (since they had to code the UJ Website)
Therefore they would prefer to see the UK Unemployed suffer, whilst they rake it in
absolutely dithpickable  to say the least as greed trumps peoples welfare & well-being every-time Sad

Re: DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

Never visited it, but mind you not signed on in the past few years, despite being unemployed.
I HAD to visit the JCP web site to keep them happy last time, great site. Enter a search like:
area with in 15 miles (public transport required)
type any
results that came back - jobs 100's of miles away since there were NO LOCAL jobs. And they were commission based selling - no way Hosea.
Never mind that you still have to apply for n jobs a week  Crazy

Re: DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

Was checking for work In grounds maintenance came up with 4 jobs for advertising executive, including one in Australia. Loads of jobs that the closing date for applications was 6 months previous and a few HGV jobs, a five year old could have coded a better website.

Re: DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

Monster are also using dated code for the UJ
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html id="MasterPage1_htmlEl" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
<head id="MasterPage1_htmlHead"><title>
Re: DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

In fairness to monster the JC+ website had a lot of junk adverts and geographical location bugs before they took it on. Monster just made it worse  Crazy
I reported bugs to JC+ many times, reported fake ads and they simply didn't want to know. Even if you spoke to a manager their answer was always the same that they could do nothing it was someone somewhere else in the country, they couldn't get through to them and if they could it would still break the chain of command etc etc etc. The real issue here is that the DWP is full of yes men and women who do as they're told and never question anything or pass feedback back up the chain of command. They're like zombies and it's not even their fault, it's down to those at the top who have the attitude of do as we say and never question it.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: DWP plans to ditch ridiculed jobs website (about time)

Look how many times the DWP has been reported going on strike over that past few years, for various reasons, including the time they claimed they were being paid lower than the minimum wage at that moment in time.
However where has that got them ?Huh
Do as I say or grab your P45 on your way out!!!!!!
