Cyprus government has 93% stake in Cyprus Airways... and has been giving it money to keep it going.... EU says that breaches the rules, and Cyprus Airways must pay back the money...

Re: Cyprus Airways shuts down

A number of airlines in Europe could fall foul of the same ruling. It won't adversely affect any UK airlines.

Re: Cyprus Airways shuts down

With RyanAir their cheap ticket only covers the passengers head.
Then they charge an arm and a leg.

Re: Cyprus Airways shuts down

The likes of Easyjet and Ryanair could benefit by their demise.

Report on FlightRadar24

The now-defunct Cyprus Airways is storing its A320s @ St Athan, S. Wales. 5B-DCJ & K are in, H & M are en-route now.

Re: Cyprus Airways shuts down

Guess they won't be there long. They are models being used by other airlines so could be sold on. If the planes are stored for any length of time they may end up in Arizona in the plane graveyard.

The climate there is ideal for long term storage.
