Crisp packets getting smaller

Is it me or are the crisp packets in multi-packs getting smaller in size by the day?

Re: Crisp packets getting smaller

Funny you should say that.
This afternoon I opened a multi-pack Walkers plain crisps and a multi-pack Seabrook Beefy.
The Seabrook bag was half full, the Walkers bag was a quarter full.
Surprisingly both bags contained exactly 26 grammes of crisps.

Which is less than One Ounce !!

Try crushing all the crisps in one packet, you would be surprised at exactly how little volume there is..
(Around 6 tablespoons volume)
Or perhaps not.

Re: Crisp packets getting smaller

Multipack bags have always been smaller than off-the-shelf bags, presumably because they think it's healthier to have a smaller portion per pack in the home, even though it's easy enough to have two (or more) bags in one sitting, but it is annoying when two bags are about equal to one off-the-shelf bag... Re: Crisp packets getting smaller

I remember an article on tv about the '£' shops. Manufacturers make smaller bars of chocolates etc especially for '£'  shops, so as to keep the profit margins the same (or better) than standard sizes from mainstream retailers.  So if you are buying from one of these 'cut-price retailers' don't be surprised about the size difference. Cool

Re: Crisp packets getting smaller

Crisp pricing seems to bear no relationship to cost.  A couple of months ago my missus purchased a multipack containing 5 bags of 30gms of crisps because it was a lot cheaper than a single 150 gm pack of the same crisps in the same local supermarket on the same day.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

On the specific subject of crisps...We have found walkers to be too hard.  much prefer the ones from Lidl...and the price too. Wink

Re: Crisp packets getting smaller

I rarely buy crisps these days as I just don't think they're worth it.
But I do treat myself occasionally to make a crisp buttie Cool

Re: Crisp packets getting smaller

I found some "hand cooked crisps" on sale the other day, the 130g packet was 90p the 100g with 50% extra free was 58p, guess which I bought ;-)

Last one of those I had was just sugar and brown fat, really not keen on most of cadbury's products ever since they cut back on chocolate content (mostly after they were bought out by Kraft, before then being split off into another separate entity after Kraft sold 'em on)...

Not had a CCE for many many years now, mostly due to being diabetic ;-(, but also I didn't really enjoy them, too yucky.

I had a friend go to America and when in a shop asked for a standard bag of crisps ie like 35g, the Americans he was staying with just laughed uncontrollably.

That's odd I've just looked at the 6 pack multi-pack of Walkers we have in the kitchen and they are all 25g!
