Cricket

Are there any cricket fans out there?  With the ICC World Twenty20 in progess, with a lot of controversy one way or another, the County season now in full swing, and there have been some interesting and exciting matches there, and the test matches in the not too distant future there's lots to talk about.

Re: Cricket

They need to sort something out as D/L doesn't work very well for T20

Re: Cricket

I think D/L does work in most cases and, as has been pointed out, the Windies were scoring like train, they may well have been able to match the score, especially as our bowling had been a little wayward, but I agree, D/L doesn't seem to work as well with T20 as it does with the 40 or 50 over game.
It's a bit early to go thinking about the championship, but Hampshire are doing Ok too.

Re: Cricket

Well, a couple of absolute slaughters, the Ozzies really stuffed India (I thought they were supposed to be good at this game. and how are the mighty fallen with Yorkshire stuffing Essex, that should keep them at the top.  And what happened to Kent?  I thought they had that one in the bag.

Re: Cricket

I think there must be a conspiracy amongst the white cricketing nations to reduce the importance of Twenty20 by beating the hell out of the sub-continent sides thus reducing the audience, and the financial influence, of the IPL.

Ah Yorkshire. Been a good sporting weekend all round Smiley
Personally I'll take a 5 day test of T20 anytime.

Re: Cricket

Well, I might say that I'd rather listen to the County Championship than Twenty20, but today England are playing.  So who's it to be, England or New Zealand?

Re: Cricket

I'd say New Zealand, but as long as we don't get thrashed that's all good Smiley

Re: Cricket

Don’t be so pessimistic Adie;  Smiley England’s policy of selecting talented disenfranchised South Africans appears to be paying dividends. Joking apart, England are playing very well. I think KP misses this one though to attend the birth of his baby.

Re: Cricket

Without KP it'll need at least one of the others to pull out a good innings but knowing England it could go either way.  If we play to our best abilities we'll win, but that's a big 'if'.

Re: Cricket

And those 'Kings' of Twenty20 are deposed by 'lowly' Sri Lanka.  How long do you reckon the great Indian public will continue to support the domestic competition that produces losers?
