Re: Crafty Cockney :(

Very sad. I have fond memories of staying up in the late 70's, early 80's to watch Eric, John Lowe, Jockie Wilson et al.

It's good to see darts popularity has been making a comeback lately.

Same as Mav, remember watching Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson playing against each other as I was growing up. Was always great to watch, RIP

Re: Crafty Cockney :(

You can knock fags and booze but without them we wouldn't have had all those great Dart and Snooker matches.

Eric and Jocky were always an odd couple to watch. Eric precise and smooth while Jocky muttered to himself and often had an odd jerky throw.

Always a dependable entertainer I'm surprised to hear of Eric's early demise. Over the years all the dodgy health talk was usually about Bobby George's long list of problems and ailments but despite that he seems to have out lasted them all.

Checked out on treble twenty, he'd have smiled at the irony.

Great player, great entertainer, and definitely not modest about being either Thumbs Up

A huge personality who dragged darts to the forefront of TV entertainment. I used to love watching him and found his ego appealing somehow.

Re: Crafty Cockney :(

I think that Smith & Jones sketch was what actually instigated the no-drinking rules for professional darts matches, as at the time darts players were seen drinking more than they were playing, which of course even back then was beginning to be considered non-PC, before that term had been bandied around like it is today... @RobPN  When I heard the news of Eric Bristow's death this morning, the first thing that came into my mind was that sketch by Griff and Mel.

60 is definitely too young.
