Cowardly as a general derogatory comment

Interesting how politicians now attach that to almost anything http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8192919.stm

Vandals slashed the tyres of the Labour MP for Salford's Citroen Xsara Picasso and smashed its windscreen.
The ex-communities secretary said she did not think her car had been targeted because of who she was and called the attack "pathetic and cowardly".
Just becasuse the car couldn't fight back  Grin

Re: Cowardly as a general derogatory comment

From Sky News
Quote
Residents told journalists she was targeted by disgruntled voters angry over her role in the expenses scandal.
But the Salford MP told the Manchester Evening News it was not part of a vendetta against her.
Instead she blamed the incident on "teenagers with nothing to do on a hot afternoon".
She added: "This is just the actions of a tiny minority."

Fair comment, i don't suppose her car was attacked by 30 million people.

How does she know it was the Vandals - it could have been Goths, Visigoths, Ostrogoths...
or somebody else entirely. Cheesy

Re: Cowardly as a general derogatory comment

I've not been to Salford.
But I knew a guy from Manchester at uni, and spent a couple of weeks in the city centre when I first started work.
From what I heard, having your car smashed in there is not uncommon.

Re: Cowardly as a general derogatory comment

yet again - just blaming it on teenagers - she should know better. It could equally be people in their 20's - or older.
I've been to Salford many times - Copthorne Hotel I think it was - and although I'm trying not to be prejudiced myself, there are areas in the town  I would not like to park a car for long.

Re: Cowardly as a general derogatory comment

I would say that cowardly was not an appropriate adjective to use in the circumstances.
It is not a very nice thing to happen, and perhaps I ought not to say it, but now that she is not in the gilded cage associated with being a cabinet minister she will no doubt now know what it is like to be a mere mortal and live in the land that her government have helped to create.

Re: Cowardly as a general derogatory comment

Some parts of Salford are very nice but unfortunately the whole city is tarred with same brush.
