even with 10p off a litre I still cost me 55 quid to fill up...

Whenever Tesco's have 5p or 10p off per litre vouchers the price at our local store (Weston Favell) seems to go up.
Also Tesco, Weston Favell, Northampton: Diesel 143.9p/l but Tesco Superstore Carina Road Kettering: Diesel 139.9p/l
Just happened to be near the Kettering one a couple of days ago with an empty tank and a 10p voucher.  20 minutes (12 miles) between these two stores so maybe worth a short journey more often.
