Re: Closed Thread

@billnotben I have no idea, but I'm glad they seem to have disappeared. I tried one many years ago, when I did drink alcohol - one mouthful was all it took.🤢

Stouts and porters are having something of a renaissance and now also come in several ‘flavours’ - anything from peanut butter to marshmallow!

Re: Closed Thread

Why is this topic even here? - The mods do as they please to try and keep the peace. This is not the first time we've had "deleted thread" topics posted in an attempt to revive the quarrels.

Usually the op posts it and then goes silent - in the hope that the members posting within it will flare up again.

While this topic has not yet flared up, i think it'll only be a matter of time. These "deleted thread" topics shouldn't be allowed - along with political and religious ones.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Seems to me the OP asked a reasonable question and got a reasonable answer.

Now - what's your favourite beer?

Whatever happened to Stouts? Remember Cream Label.

Used to be very popular.

My Nan used to swear by Mackeson. She allowed herself one a night for most of her adult life.

She lived to the ripe old age of 100, so perhaps she was right.

I believe it was recommended for nursing mothers at the time.

I remember Mrs kHz having Davenport's stout on prescription.

Cheers, @nozzer . I should have remembered MG made saloons in the old days.👍

@twocvbloke

I'd agree with your first paragraph, but I'm not so sure I'd be too keen on some of your beer choices judging by their names.

@billnotben

I'm quite partial to a couple of cans of well chilled 'Draught Guinness' if that counts.

Re: Closed Thread

I can understand what a difficult time it is for all of us, especially what with what is going on at present.

Well I am popping round my corner shop to pick up some beers. Bit naughty of me given it's near 11am, but there you go.

Should do something productive. I got the kit to convert VHS to DVD kit. Very useful. I wouldn't usually bother if it were old TV recordings or films etc. Some of it is home video, which I of course I can't replace so I want to archive it as this is important to me. I hate photos of me, so it greives me to watch myself on video in 1992. Oh well, we of course were all much younger then.

I know you can pay companies to do it. But where is the fun in that? It is so much more fun to learn and do yourself, pat yourself on the back with a massive smile and say "I did that". 😀

I remember it well. 🙂

Also remember the 'Double Diamond woks wonders'

ads, though it didn't work any wonders for me, being a cider drinker in those days. Can't stand the stuff now.

Re: Closed Thread

Yep I stick to beer, if I try spirits they either do nothing at all or I get in a bad way. Not my bag or cup of tea.

At least with beer I know when to retire to my bedroom and decide I am going to read the inside of my eyelids for the rest of the night. 😃

At Uni, we had a cocktail party which didn't go well. I made it out alive (just about). Those were the days.

My Mother had a Mackeson's every night, advising me it was recommended by her doctor.

That may well have been true.

I had forgotten about Macky. That and Cream Label were my Mum's and Nan's favourites.

I liked the occasional one myself with some cheese biscuits and the telly. Though it wasn't looked upon as a "manly" drink to have when out. Mind you so was any half pints back then.

My Nan's other favourite was Sanatogen. For more or less the same reason.
