Re: Closed Thread

As a point of interest, I note the following board header for General Chat:

Some need reminding of the fourth word?

Sounds worth a try looking at the descriptions found via Google.

My current favourite is Morland's Old Speckled Hen.  😋

@198kHz

Nice! I bet you don't know what the original Old Speckled Hen was. 🤔

@Browni  @198kHz

Near enough!

"Old Speckled Hen took its name from an MG car which was used as a runaround for workers in the MG factory. Over years of service, the car became covered in flecks of paint, gaining it acclaim in the town and earned it the nickname "Owld Speckled 'Un", translated by Ian Williams the personnel officer at the Abingdon factory into Old Speckled Hen for the brown ale first brewed by Morland in 1979 when the brewery was asked by MG to create a commemorative beer for the factory's 50th anniversary."

Indeed they do, @jab1. Hopefully the ban on ‘political’ posts will help keep this board friendly to all.

Even Mumsnet has a section devoted to politics, your whole life is controlled by politicians and the laws they put onto statute book. Politics is one of the most interesting subjects in the world because it affects every one of us every day.

Fully agree, only seen Deuchars IPA in a few places around here, I guess we might see a few of the smaller breweries going out of business due to Corvid-19.

Re: Closed Thread

Personally I'd be happy to see the back of political topics, they bring out the really unpleasant types, various forums I use or have used in the past always kept politics either confined to its' own section or just a blanket ban on it, and it keeps the peace nicely, it's such a contentious topic that people just cannot help but get up in arms about the silliest of things...

As for beer, I'm going to be enjoying the receipt of my favourites tomorrow (well, later today given it's no Tuesday), Bombardier, Banana Bread Beer and Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale, may not be to some people's tastes, but they're beers I do thoroughly enjoy the taste of... 😁
