Climate Change

It's all very well the UK doing its bit to fight off climate change....

But what about the rest of the planet.

If large areas don't do their bit, our bit won't matter a flying fig.

Re: Climate Change

Hate to be my usual cynical self, but I do not see any change short of a revolution... or some intervention by an alien overlord.

My fear and my dismal prediction is that it will not be until we are finally faced with extinction and no way back that the truth will finally dawn. The majority other than those doomsday preppers perhaps will starve, whilst the minority and the privileged will have long made themselves immune to disaster - maybe even to the point of shipping themselves off to Mars.

Nothing to do with the race to the moon by private companies as a launch pad to get there of course, nothing at all. Just ask Elon Musk or even the likes of Richard Branson.

We have to lead by example just as we do in the world of politics....

@Champnet

What, stand out from the crowd, be counted and tell others where to shove it?

Sounds like a plan. Wink

Re: Climate Change

@Champnet  Do I detect a little sarcasm there? If not, I apologise in advance.

On the point raised by @Strat , though, he is entirely correct - we are a tiny speck on the globe, and worst polluters are many times bigger. If they don't do as is deemed to be required - for whatever reason, then we are still going to suffer, and have to pay for the privilege.

Re: Climate Change

Seeing the ITV news report tonight about the current demonstrations in London my first thought was "How much pollution was caused in the production and application of the pink paint to that female demonstrator's boat?".

@Jonpe

Loved the comment from Piers Morgan, "You just know they are all vegetarians!"

On a related note, and being a cynical old goat, I hope all those protesters walked or cycled to the demonstrations, to make sure they didn't create more pollution.

Re: Climate Change

After just watching Sir David Attenborough’s program on Climate Change reckon I’ll give Oxford Circus a miss for the next few days....

Re: Climate Change

How much additional pollution is being created from the traffic hold ups and diversions having to be used to try to avoid the actions of the protestors?

Oh, and all that police overtime and them having to travel into work, then there's the media click click click.

Re: Climate Change

This below from The Spectator.

They certainly have a point, and Emma Thompson flying all the way back from LA on a 'global warming carbon footprint aircraft' in order to to rally support - what's all that about?

Re: Climate Change

Yes the protesters pick the soft targets..... the ones where they won't be imprisoned for life, sent to Siberia or shot.
