Chip Shop Favourites?

Just went down to the chippy and got a white pudding supper, delicious and a favourite of mine. So what is your favourite?

Bit hit and miss where I live. Can't go wrong with a white pudding unless it's black  Grin

Re: Chip Shop Favourites?

Cod and chips providing it has been caught recently which I think you can usually tell by the colour.

I went on hols to Whitby a year ago,... and had fish and chips on the quay side, where the fish were landed.... it was gorgeous...
Our local chippy serve equally, or sometimes better, tasting cod.  Never had a bad bit of fish from them... Also, they have just won a local newspaper "best chip shop" award for the area... so... lucky me... !

I have fond memories of buying them down Ecclesall Road
I also remember when you couldn't get them because of the potato shortage making the prices far too high

Re: Chip Shop Favourites?

My mother used to run a village chip shop in Lincolnshire. It was a converted shed really. The fryers were coal fired. The fat used for frying was beef dripping. The potatoes were King Edwards grown locally and the fish, cod fresh from the North Sea. By that time I'd left home and was working for a living. I'd visit occasionally and if my timing was right I could buy chips there (never free!).  I've never tasted better chips. The fish was good too.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.
