My recollection was that people West of Offa's Dike used the word Sais in a derogatory way, but I didn't take offence. 

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Well the word is Saesneg, I've never heard the contraction used, and how would English people know..... unless they spoke or at least understood some Welsh? Where the word is used it has never been used in a derogatory way in my experience other than a sort of "ah well, he's English". 

The south Walians have a word for those in the north as the language is slightly different, but perhaps that's stretching this discussion to far.  

For context I'm English with four Welsh speaking children, and now several Welsh speaking grandchildren. Wink

I lived in Abertawe for 9 years.
