Chilly Willy ..... Get out your Winter Woolies.

And there was me hoping that global warming had finally kicked in.
Going by previous years I guess we are in for a cold dry (hosepipe ban) winter.

Roll eyes
The old common misconception of global warming again. What's happening is more energy is being put into the global weather system, causing some zones to become more extreme in terms of weather events. Think of it like a rubber band, the more you pull it the more it moves.

Re: Chilly Willy ..... Get out your Winter Woolies.

Oh gosh!! its near the end of October getting close to November and its getting colder (much as it has done for the last couple of million years in the late autumn in the northern hemisphere)
What ever next...!
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Apart from that,  if some predictions of the effects of global warming come true,  we can expect winters significantly colder than we're used to.
This is one reason for the switch in terminology to  'global climate change',  the average may be warmer, however, YMMV.

No, not that one. I meant what the effect will be on the climate. Like ones where it will always be warmer than usual.
Sorry if I'm not explaining this very well, kind of difficult concentrating with an allergy going off in my nose.

Re: Chilly Willy ..... Get out your Winter Woolies.

Maybe the problem is indirectly linked to global warming:
We're all being encouraged to use higher efficiency appliance, low energy lightbulbs etc., we're also being told to improve insulation and draughtproofing (some are being offered grants for this), we're encouraged to drive cars with lower CO2 emissions (more efficient, less waste heat) - the net effect is surely much less heat going into the surroundings so it's hardly any wonder it's getting colder!  Tongue
