Excellent footage from a dash cam shown on today's BBC one o clock news.
Driver was over 3 times the limit and shows how badly the car was driven including the final accident.
If anyone has a link that would be good.
Thanks

It amazes me when I've seen videos in the past of people exceeding the speed limit (say 100MPH) and taking video of it. Whether it be phones or whatever.
Then wonder why they get done, easy work for the police. You've already provided the evidence
Moral is if you're going to break the law, don't film yourself doing it and make it public.

She was disqualified from driving for 24 months, and sentenced to a 12-month community order, requiring her to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

"Moral is if you're going to break the law, don't film yourself doing it and make it public"
Did the driver make it public though or the police?
Personally I'd have liked to see her get far more than that 24 months ban and a miserly community order.

This is a different story, but I remember reading about someone who posted video of their speedo on YouTube. Public.
Not the best idea.

Indeed they have.
One I recall was a motorcyclist and another a car driver who even gave a running commentary!
I wonder if the police have been hoisted by their own dashcam petard!

Thanks for finding the link.
Seem to recall some motorcyclist filming himself doing 140 mph + on a camera & posting it on youtube, clearly a challenge to others to beat it.

I would assume that she would also find it hard to carry on with her teaching career.

Don't see why, many of us have been there - but she needs a good talking to that's for sure.

I was thinking along the lines of students giving her a (well deserved) hard time.
Plus many teachers seem to work miles away from their home so her job may just became "difficult".
Give the papers a few more days and we will probably find out she's her infants schools designated mini bus driver.

Isn't there a requirement for teachers to have no criminal record? And "Those working with children and other vulnerable groups, such as teachers and social workers" (Wikipedia) are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

I think for those in positions of responsibility the key phrase is an unacceptable lack of judgement.
Used often with struck off doctors/nurses and sacked police.

In another article where a teacher was found viewing porn in the class room, the General Teaching Council (GTC) ruled that case was "particularly serious as he should have set an example and was in a position of particular trust and authority." and although sacked for gross misconduct, amazingly he remains on the teaching register.
Whilst this dashcam case is serious I would not have thought it warranted the same sort of action but as said, she needs a good talking to that's for sure as it's more a case of social rather than moral behaviour. We expect more from our professions but not all are judged in the same way in the court of public opinion - although their own governing body may take a different view of course given that children learn from the behaviour of others.

But this person was found guilty in a court of law, thereby acquiring a criminal record; watching porn in the classroom is probably not a criminal offence, although wholly inappropriate.
