Cable Query

Recently got a car cam but the power cable is too short to be routed along the edge of the windscreen so being the clever chap that I am got a 2mtr lead with a male usb plug at one end and female micro usb plug at the other end which would go direct into the camera. This was attached to a female micro usb/female usb adaptor so the original power lead would fit but just one slight problem..................it didn't work, the camera icon showed it was getting no power.
Bit puzzled as to why it did not work as logically, at least to me it should have worked.
Any ideas on the above or any cheap alternative solutions.
Garmin do a 5mtr lead but that's a bit pricy at £21.95

Re: Cable Query

the cheap usb leads often don't have the correct pin connections ....
some leads are designed for data only others for power only and then you get charge/sync leads...
what you want to do is get a single lead that covers the whole length listed as a charge/sync
something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2-3M-Strong-Fabric-Braided-Micro-Usb-Data-Sync-Charger-Cable-Lead-For-Sa... if that's the correct type f connections
and if your charge unit is one of those fag lighter all in one things replace it with something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Light-USB-Dual-Port-Twin-12V-Universal-In-Car-Socket-Lighter-Charger-A...
pick your own items to suit your needs but those are just examples I found in 30 secs of not really looking  Wink
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

Re: Cable Query

Thanks,
Was possibly using a data lead rather than a power lead, have sent for one so hopefully it should do the trick.
