Re: CSI Ends

Isn't CSI the American TV shows dealing with forensic crime prevention?

Re: CSI Ends

Phew! had me worried there.  But a question - it's the government's forensic science lab (CSI if you like), It's there to support police forces around the country, who pay for its services from their budgets (funded by the tax payer) why does it even need to make a profit?  It's just Peter paying Paul. We pay either way (from local government funding or central taxation).
Surely the alternative is to supply profits to a commercial business which will quite happily  slant reports either way; depending on whether the prosecution or defence is paying (or maybe both?!)

That puzzled me as well. They say the service is losing £2m per month but that seems a small price to pay for some of the best expertise in the world.
