Bute in ASDA corned beef

Sorry can't find the old horse meat topic so started this..
Bute has now been found in ASDA corned beef products, So many weeks after it has all come out and they're STILL at it trying to flog horsemeat to innocent customers.
Absolutely disgusting.

Re: Bute in ASDA corned beef

I agree it probably is (the product) but whether having a small amount of BUTE makes it more disgusting I don't know

Re: Bute in ASDA corned beef

[quote="Asda"]A statement from Asda said: "In March 2013 we withdrew tinned Smart Price Corned Beef (340g) after receiving a positive test for horse DNA above the 1% trace level set by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
Ello, ello, ello! Does this mean that under 1% horse meat is allowable?  Undecided

Re: Bute in ASDA corned beef

Under 1% is only a 'little' horse, which is a pony!!
Think cockney rhyming slang and there you go...corned beef is pony and trap Cry
(we used to call it 'corned-dog'..tho don't know why)

Re: Bute in ASDA corned beef

Recent headlines like too much red meat is bad for your heart is a joke as next to no one has no idea what meat we are eating.
Soylent Green burgers anyone?
"we withdrew tinned Smart Price Corned Beef (340g) after receiving a positive test for horse DNA"
And they're still getting things backwards. Shouldn't the tests be done before they are put on the shelves?

You're not understanding the point are you. They KNOW that this has horse meat / bute. Thats how they get the price down to keep their profits up. When the scandal first broke they probably stopped it temporarily hoping that like most major corrupt practices, it would be swept under the carpet in a few weeks and forgotten about.
A few weeks later they're at it again. I would suspect someone somewhere caught them at it and now they've released a press statement saying they found it after 'testing'.

Re: Bute in ASDA corned beef

I seem to remember OldJim once saying the forum search was broken so go figure why I didn't use it.
I looked on the first page of topics and couldn't see it (nor remember what the title was) so I started this topic.
I am indeed a sinner.
I will try my best not to post anything informative again.
