Burger anyone ?

Are Burgers part of your stable diet ?

Some of Tesco's Value range Burgers had 29% horse meat !
They go well with mask-a-pony cheese, and a spot of horseradish.....

Horse also found in Dunnes Stores, Lidl, Aldi beef products

Two continental European third party suppliers  are the suspected source of the product in question

Marks & Spencer 'Simply M&S beefburgers' were the only brand found by the FSAI to contain neither pork nor horse and were 100 per cent beef.

Re: Burger anyone ?

Not sure what the fuss is about, horse meat is quite tasty on the occasions I've had it in France.

Re: Burger anyone ?

And pork sausages are being sold as Pork.  On average, the pork content is 25%.

Re: Burger anyone ?

You used to be able to buy horse meat in French supermarkets but not tried recently.
Had it at times when we were camping. First time was 1965 in Switzerland.
Needed to be eaten pipping hot or got rather tough.

Re: Burger anyone ?

The term hamburger ( a ground beef patty between two slices of bread) originally derives from Hamburg, Germany's second largest city, from which many people emigrated to the United States.

Hamburgers are an anagram of Shergar's bum !!!!!

Re: Burger anyone ?

Nothing wrong with horse meat. I had it a lot when I was working around Europe. In France they have Boucheries Chevalines which specialise in selling horse meat.
So a burger with horse meat is OK for me.
I won't eat cheap burgers or sausages here because of all the other crap they put in them

Re: Burger anyone ?

But where do you draw the line ? In China they eat any sort of meat so how do you define what's acceptable or not.
Perhaps it down to personal choice.

Re: Burger anyone ?

Horse meat is legal in the UK and perfectly edible, I don't know how many burgers will be removed from production, storage, shipping, shelves etc. and probably destroyed because they are not correctly labelled.  Arguably not many would be purchased if they were correctly labelled but many people are finding it difficult to make ends meet financially, could these not just be correctly re-labelled and sold cheap?
