Re: Bull fighting...!

It's more dangerous for the bull who has no chance of survival.
If you want to find out more about Spanish bullfighting, try reading Ernest Hemingway's book, 'Death in the Afternoon.'
The book was written in the 1930s; however, in my opinion, anyone who patronises this inhumane spectacle in the 21st century should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: Bull fighting...!

I quite enjoy the bit where the bull gores its tormentor. I imagine the bull says to himself " have some of that Señor

Re: Bull fighting...!

A few other countries have or had their one sided blood sports for the gratification of the audience, for example:
Russia: bear baiting
UK: hare coursing, bull baiting, badger baiting, dog fighting, cock fighting, fox hunting and a few more besides from a nation of "animal lovers" I think.
Australia: used to do something rather nasty to kangaroo's once upon a time before it was banned I believe.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Bull fighting...!

Allegedly they don't feel it (lack of nerves) but I've not seen a hooked fish that seemed to enjoy the event though.
(I'm not and never have been an angler)

Re: Bull fighting...!

Don't worry kdoug. The season I'm having with the rivers being so low I'm not disturbing many fish. Just spent a week fishing and caught 1 sea trout.  Sad
Still it beats working. Smiley

Re: Bull fighting...!

Back on topic,  they've been having fun in pamplona this week,  Three people gored during bull run
However,  I think this statement sums it up appropriately...
Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid.
