Re: Brussels on lockdown

This is shocking. I've been following it since early morning. The latest confirmed death toll is 21.
David Cameron is to chair a COMBRA later this morning. They will assess our own security arrangements.

Sadly I fear any person attempting a similar move in the UK will already be here - and possibly living amongst us. We have to rely on our security/intelligence services and vigilance from the public. To be successful we have to stop each and every threat whereas the bombers only have to be 'lucky' once.

Therein lies the problem  Cry
Early last December we drove into Belgium, and back, on shopping trip.
French had closed border on A16 with traffic chaos in Belgian direction - this was after Paris attacks so who can blame them
Only vehicle we spotted being checked was Megabus heading, probably, towards Poland
We came back into France on old N1 and were just waived through.

Re: Brussels on lockdown

@nadger, you raise a good point. I think over time security becomes lax and there lies the problem.

Re: Brussels on lockdown

Heard on the news t his morning, that Britain is "prepared" for these attaacks....  ...  and has 5,000 troops it can put on the street within hours of an attack..
Kinda "bolting the stable door...."  rather than the boy scout motto.... methinks...  Undecided
I suppose that statement that Britain is prepared for these attacks, is to pacify some people into thinking we are safe from attack....  Huh

Re: Brussels on lockdown

At least reassuring to know we are prepared.
