Browsing the internet with a 300 baud modem

At the end of the demonstration he brings up the wikipedia home page. It looks a similar speed to the Plusnet portal!

Re: Browsing the internet with a 300 baud modem

Pre using the Acoustic Coupler, we used a Telex machine and paper tape to get the message ready before going on line, not sure what the telex speed was but I think slower than 300, seen mentioned 43.5 baud.
This was to get to our main frame running fortran, which then produced the final report, size abot the same as my house, Power could do thr job now better on my laptop

Re: Browsing the internet with a 300 baud modem

I can remember 75 and 110 baud with the latter being used by some machines. 110 baud was in fact 10 characters per second as this used 11 bits per character compared with 300 baud which was 30 characters per second.
