Re: British Planes Going To Libya

I haven't seen the details but I believe that the UN Resolution under which the action is being taken requires a cease fire and the air no fly zone and also the allowing of air to ground attacks has as it's aim the stopping of the attacks

Re: British Planes Going To Libya

Seems to me that Gaddafi may not be trusted to actually cease fire.
Wonder why!!

So what are we going to do about Bahrain, then?  or has everyone forgotten them?  the Bahrain rulers, seem to be a lot more ruthless against their people rising against them, yet nothing has been said about us going to "sort them out".............YET  >  Undecided

HAng on.. I still don't get it.
We can't afford to subsidise public transport, hospitals and other services we rely on but we can afford to spend millions flying over Libya?
Oh.. I forgot I already started a thread about that a while back  Lips are sealed

There's a quite good article in today's Mail if you're interested in a basic general background of middle east affairs.

The middle east doesn't really interest me. It shouldn't interest this government either who keeps poking its nose into every other nations affairs but its own.
When it learns to look after its own people properly I will trust this government to look out for the rest of the world.

So what are we going to do about Bahrain, then?

Or Zimbabwe (Mugabe), Venezula (Chavez), Bolivia (Morales), Nigaragua (Ortega).
Then we can start on the countries like Ivory Coast (disputed leadership), or even Belgium (no leader)
Given a couple of weeks we could even have an empire again! Crazy
I agree with Geoff/Okrzynska...(sorry Ok.. credited the wrong poster)

Re: British Planes Going To Libya

Well in a time when the gov keep cutting everything our country can call a defence I just can't see how we can still be the 5th largest military force in the world.
