These leaflets are produced mainly to cover the manufacturer legally from any claims. They have, however, little protection as we know of many who have been taken to court for side effects etc.

Re: Brexit Revisited

I remember from many yeaars back I had a LP by I think Bob Newhart american comedian on which he did a bit about flying. In it he said that if you bought an insurance for the flight whatever you did do not read it as if you did you would never fly!

Re: Brexit Revisited

https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Summary-Miller-v-The-Prime-Minister-1.pdf

This is a summary of the judgement handed down in the Gina Miller / John Major case in High court of England and Wales, where the suspending of parliament is seen as a political matter, outside the jurisdiction of normal legal system. Just shows why the Scottish case has no real bearing on what will happen in the supreme court - Scottish law is different to UK wide law, also I may be cynical but Scots,  particularly SNP have always been trouble makers and no doubt had a word in the Scottish judges ear before the appeal was heard....

important quote from judgment ( which was unanimous verdict )

The court concludes on well established and conventional grounds that the claim is non justiciable - that is, it is not capable of being determined by the courts. A decision to prorogue Parliament is a prerogative power, a discretionary power still in the hands of the Crown. Such a decision is formally made by the Sovereign on the advice of the Privy Council. By constitutional convention the Sovereign invariably acts on the advice of the Prime Minister. [4]

The bottom line is -  It is not the Queens decision alone to suspend parliament, there is a privy council of senior legal figures advising the Queen, and they look at all the legal angles before advising Queen to allow.....

Re: Brexit Revisited

@wotsup

I did read (or watch) somewhere something about those three judges being remainers - which would be no surprise given the overwhelming number in Scotland that voted to stay in the EU.

Partisan? Of course not.

Back on track, and I read this morning that Shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer said the Yellowhammer document confirms there are "severe risks" if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

What do they expect, that worse case scenarios should not be discussed?

My advice, don't catch a flight anywhere as that safety lecture you get along with that card behind the seat we are asked to read and digest will scare the socks off you so much you'll never ever get on an aeroplane again!

Project fear, but then what's new.

I think we all really want to know question 15 in the "Yellowhammer" file  I think we should all guess at what that could be as it might be important and the missing link to the whole issue

I'm quite disappointed with them using the John Hancock Yellowhammer  and the related films on YouTube https://youtu.be/NzhcJOFXz2E

I don't understand why they don't call a risk assessment and strategic plan, by its proper name and end all these confusing names that relate to a funny horror film company or a very pretty little bird?

Re: Brexit Revisited

@artmo  Who said "freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice, and Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality"?
