Assuming this is a link about the terror arrest near Houses of Parliament, what happened to that £5m 'Ring of Steel' they proposed last year, or was that just to protect the bankers and not the *******
Seems to me the only way around this is to close off the entire capital - or maybe and to slightly paraphrase Stanley Baldwin, "the 'bomber' will always get through" - but then I guess like having those surveillance cameras, it will just cause the crime to be committed elsewhere.

As late as the mid-70s it was possible to walk right up to the door of 10 Downing Street; many people did and had their photo taken. Thinking it would always be thus, I never bothered to do it, something I now regret. Perhaps we'll one day see the whole 'government quarter' inaccessible to the public.

I walked up there a couple of times back in the 60s, but unlike Harold Wilson I never had my photo taken in front of number ten.
Just think, I could have been the Prime Minister if I had

It seems to me that our security services did the job they are employed to do. Well done to them.

Well done indeed but the cost of stopping a guy carrying a couple of knives must be staggering. Let's trust and hope we find a way that does not find us all on some kind of mass lockdown in the near future.
Remotely scanned ID cards anyone?

It was an intelligence led operation. The security services may also have obtained additional information of others that we won't know about. It is unlikely he worked alone.
The cost of security is not cheap but the consequences of cheap security can be fatal.

Security services in the UK are the best in the world. This is another example of their work. I am currently in the US for the Spring and the American people and their military speak very highly for UK security,

They do know that James Bond and George Smiley are both fiction right?
PS. According to this link (and not saying it's true as I do not know the source) Pakistan comes top, USA second, and the UK in at number three. Surprisingly, Mossad is down at number ten, but then who really knows.

And the EU wants us to pay them for access to their security information; should they not be paying us?
