Beluga Whale, flies over my house !

Just went out for a short break, and a breath of fresh air, into the garden... sat down for five minutes, playing around with my camera... spotted a plane overhead... decided to ZOOOOOoooooooooom in on it, and was surprised by what I caught !     A BELUGA flying over my house..

That is a pic from google images.....

This is one from my camera ! ! ..  ( Estimated height is about 16,000 feet) ( as that is the usual "transit" height above my house for airliners on their way to Gatwick or Heathrow....

@shutter

You did well getting that shot, guess you have very steady hands as the more you zoom out the harder it can be to get a clear shot, in particular if it's a moving object.

Re: Beluga Whale, flies over my house !

@gleneagles Yes, I agree.... I often miss the plane completely, as the camera moves when you pull back on the zoom lever. (and tracking the plane at the same time)  I tend to lose it from the viewfinder.... .. at that distance, the zoom is over 70X optical... and maybe going towards 100 with extra zoom ( digital ).. so have to "back off" and find the contrail, and track it...then re-focus the zooming in again... . this one, was a "lucky shot"   it was quite cloudy, and only a "window" between cloud banks... I had no idea what the plane was, when I saw it exit the cloud on the right.. just had time before it disappeared into the cloud on the left... a "one shot"  take.. so quite pleased when I saw what it was..

Me neither @billnotben it looks like an inflatable that you throw about when you're at the swimming pool. Great shot Shutter!!

Re: Beluga Whale, flies over my house !

It often flies over my house and there are various models of a similar design.
