Some explosion in Beirut, some reports saying a firework factory but looks to big to be that from the pictures. One report saying Beirut airport damaged and thats 6 miles away. Probably a big loss of life.

That's one hell of of blast with a monstrous pressure wave. I was almost wondering about suitcase nuclear devices but I've no real idea about that and I assume they would have already detected some radiation.
It's certainly no firework factory blast. It seems the best current guess is that mystery warehouse was housing some type of highly explosive munitions?
A terrible tragedy in an area with a long history of terrible tragedies. Truly awful.

@billnotben The latest is that 2750 tonnes of Ammonium nitrate was stored there unsafely. Certainly caused one hell of a bang!!!

Just read that. Must be the biggest "fertiliser bomb" in history.

a huge ammonium nitrate stockpile in one of Australia's biggest coastal city has the potential to cause a blast five times bigger than the deadly Beirut explosion which killed 135 people
