Be Careful When You Buy Your Booze For Christmas/New Year

Quote
There's a warning that fake alcohol containing harmful ingredients is being sold in the UK.
The Trading Standards Institute (TSI) says people should take extra care when buying alcohol over Christmas.
Officials say they are extremely concerned about the number of fake bottles being found on sale in off-licences across the UK.

Re: Be Careful When You Buy Your Booze For Christmas/New Year

Best bet is to buy from one of the major supermarkets. The stuff is so cheap that it's hardly worth taking a gamble from a man in the pub offering it a few pounds cheaper.
I Doubt any of the major supermarkets would take a risk with anything dodgy as it would cost them thousands in lost sales plus a few thousand in compensation, something the man in the pub would not need to worry about.
Equally much of the money obtained from counterfeit goods is used for illegal purposes so in addition to putting your health at risk you are also aiding the criminal community.
Don't let them have a good Christmas at your expense !!

Re: Be Careful When You Buy Your Booze For Christmas/New Year

I always buy mine from Major Supermarkets, there's a good many special offers in early to mid December and well worth shopping around.
I still have to 'Be Careful When I Buy My Booze For Christmas...' though, if I buy it too early it seems to be gone before Christmas and I end up having to buy it again.

Re: Be Careful When You Buy Your Booze For Christmas/New Year

we can blame most of it on these scum bags in Manchester  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16215168
Manchester and neighbouring Salford are at the centre of counterfeiting and piracy in the UK, Trading Standards has told the BBC.

Our last day trip through Chunnel ( mid Nov) cost about £80 for the 330 mile round trip - includes nipping to Belgium.
Chunnel was £22 return special and rest was petrol and Dartford Crossing.
We don't bring a lot of booze back but saving on SWMBO's tobacco ( wish she'd stop) makes it worth while.
