Re: Battle of Britain Flypast

Wish I lived closer
I see Northolt gets a mention.
During the war we lived just up the road (A40) from there and the Polish War Memorial is on corner of A40 and A4180
After the war it became a busy civil airport ( BEA etc) until it reverted to RAF

Re: Battle of Britain Flypast

I'm in that area (slightly further out) and often see planes in/out of Northwood overhead.
I actually saw a Spitfire flying overhead the other day (last Thursday IIRC?) heading Southish - maybe towards Goodwood or a nearby airfield?
Sadly, looking at the maps they (Red Section) will be a bit South of me as they head into Northolt. Though the map shows them VERY close to the Heathrow flight paths near Slough/Windsor so maybe they will come in a bit more from the NW - fingers crossed.

Take-off has been delayed by 2 hours to 14:00 due to weather conditions.

Some of it live on BBC News, sadly the commentator can't tell a Spitfire from a Hurricane.
But now they've gone to the TUC conference!

And I know which was the most interesting. Worked (?) on a few Spitfires during the Hong Kong panic over the Red Hordes up north!
