Re: Baroness Thatcher dies

Yes, very sad. Whatever you thought of her politics, you cannot criticise her dedication to her ideal.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies

I agree.
She turned the country round in the eighties. Politicians today can't even hold a candle to her.
Great quote from her, though "I don't think there will be a woman prime minister in my lifetime" back in 1973.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies

Can't say I agreed with everything she did but there's no doubt she did lead the country, made real decisions and got things done, and put Britain first.
Much of what we've had since has just been a lot of armchair sitting, pussy footing around issues and appeasing other countries.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies

Somewhat mystified as to why our current PM is cutting short a European visit as a consequence.  Undecided

Just heard (BBC News 24)  she won't get a State Funeral - which is a shame.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies

Perhaps she would have got a state funeral, if she had made it to Buck House, and wore the crown she thought she did.  Roll eyes

A very sad loss.  Truly one of our greatest Prime Ministers.  She did so much to put the Great back into Great Britain.

She probably won't need one judging by the coverage the BBC is giving this today.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies

She done good and she done bad, but she was dedicated, and she always put Britain first, at least she thought she did.
She also dared to stand up to anybody, unlike the PM's of the last 20 years.
To sort the country out we need another Thatcher I reckon, and I couldn't imagine her wasting our billions on the EU and Foreign Aid.

Coverage here in the US is wall-to-wall.  She was highly respected here.
