I think he's very talented, not only with a brush, aerosol or anything he uses but with the sentiments he employs and his ideas. My favourite is his 'Mobile Lovers'...
...but I think art is like wine, a lot of pretentious twaddle is written about it, what's wrong with either liking or disliking stuff?
They have a Banksy museum in Amsterdam for anyone interested in his work...
There is usually a message behind the work he does, one claim he makes is that art is about the work the artist does and not about the artist him or her self.
Can’t say it does much for me but like all things in life it’s worth what a person is prepared to pay for a item.
I see that Banksy did some graffiti in a underground train carriage worth about £7.5 million and videod himself doing it. Unfortunately the train cleaners cleaned it off!!! OOPS!
If they sold that one carriage that would of bought them another new train!
I drove past him a few years ago - he was travelling down the same road as me and pulled up next to me at the lights (he had a very unique van). Needless to say the DM has published several faces of what he might look like over the years, one of them was actually correct! Older fella with a woolley hat. I remember being incredibly stunned to have him pull up next to me.
As for his art, he's certainly very talented and very creative. I'm not an arty person myself and i have aboslutely no interest in it, going to art galleries, learning anything arty etc.. but i have to fess up and say he's got incredible talent.
His art is very much satirical, though not always appealing to me, but I do get his meaning, like the phonebox below a sky dish where he added artwork of it being spied upon by "unknown officials", showing how our communications are always being probed, whether legally or not...
But some "art", ugh, I could take a dump in a KFC bucket and place it in a gallery and it'd probably be worth millions to some twit, I just don't get stuff like that at all...

Yes Banksy is a good artist but.............
Is he any better than some of the chalk street artists that I've seen with a hat to throw coins in next to it.
Or some of the "art" painted on walls.
No not really.
Well, the difference between Banksy and the average street-artist is the way he's made a name for himself, being the somewhat reclusive, mysterious person that he is...
