I would be tempted by the rate, but I'm put off that they can lower the rate if they choose to, and yet you cannot get out of the deal without forgoing any interest.
With that kind of agreement, NS&I seems like a sensible enough option, at least then you know its a gamble!

Thanks Chilly, I'll have a look at that. We have got a fixed term bond for them at the moment at 6.5% but also do monthly saving so might well switch to that.

Yes, it's surprising how they write off £5000 as 'not a big balance'. Maybe they should think of that when you ask for a loan
