BT Porn filter turned on

A report on the BBC website that BT has turned on the porn filtering though you can opt out.
I suppose this nannyism is inevitable.

Who downloads porn these days anyway apart from wierdos?
And anyone who phones porno chat lines which cost about 2 quid a second wants looking at IMO.

Re Chat lines:
Well you know who it is then.
A. Someone with money to burn
B. Someone on expenses.
Isn't it only for new customers atm?

Re: BT Porn filter turned on

So, more parents can sit back knowing their children are safe because someone (thing) else is looking after their welfare.
I just think this will give more people a false sense of security.
[quote=thinkbroadband]A nice feature is that parents will be able to configure regular times when the filters will can be turned off, e.g. implement a 9pm curfew so that teenagers can have less restricted access once younger siblings have gone to bed. Another option is the ability to set a homework period, when many parents may want to enforce gaming blocks.
And what will stop the younger siblings from looking at what's been downloaded on the older sibling PC/laptop/phone, etc after 9pm?

9pm-10pm to be known as happy hour for teenagers in BT broadband homes (at least, the ones who haven't worked out how to get around it).
Who is going to control the children's personal iPhones and Samsung Galaxy whatevers and their 3G connections?
Give it a few months, and there will be the "disgruntled one-sie and England shirt-wearing family sitting on bright red sofa with washing draped everywhere, parents with arms crossed with the kid holding and/or pointing at BT router and their iPad/iPhone/laptop/Playboy mag" photo (you know the sort) stories in the local papers because of ignorant parents who thought that "that BT porn blocking thingy" blocks all porn in the house, irrespective of the connection the device is using.

Re: BT Porn filter turned on

It's got a downside as well.  When you try to access a blocked site. (I tried match . com) and you were given an option to log into my BT to unblock the site.  I clicked on it and it had my MyBT details prefilled and password prefilled as well. Anyone tell me how to get rid of the prefilled details?

That depends on what browser you're using. You'll need to explore your browser settings for that.
