BT Infinity Experience

I hope I'm allowed to post this here?
I was just wondering whether anyone had any experience of the BT Infinity product vs PlusNet's FTTC offering? Just wondering whether web browsing is any nippier and downloads quicker (eg. Sky, general downloads) and streaming less prone to interruptions eg Amazon? I also find a couple of websites - Ebay and Digital Spy are really, really slow to load for me on PlusNet and it's gotten to the point I have to browse them on my Windows Phone instead. I wonder if they might work better on Infinity? Also does Infinity also suffer from the peak slowdowns where us and ds reduce to single figures?
Would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has or has had BT's Infinity product.
Thanks :-)

Re: BT Infinity Experience

both FTTC products use the same lines, cabinets and infrastructure, so there should be no difference whatsoever.
however, if your particular exchange is over-subscribed then that may results in poor performances during peak times.

Re: BT Infinity Experience

I have had both products and not noticed any difference between them.

Re: BT Infinity Experience

Ok, I just wondered whether their networks routed traffic differently once you got to your exchange and so whether the experience would be slightly different.

Re: BT Infinity Experience

I have had both and Plusnet has been slightly better.  As others have said, basic connection modem-cabinet will be exactly the same; indeed my connection didn't even lose sync on the changeover.
However, the Plusnet part has been better for me.  Ping to BBC around 10-11 (Plusnet) rather than 19-20 (Infinity), because of Infinity lunatic internal routing of all my traffic Winchester-Sheffield-London.
Also, TTBx1 tests more reliably show full speed throughout test (peak time or not) on Plusnet.
However, read the forums and your will see quite a few people with experience the other way.

Here's some stats on my trying to get to Digital Spy from my PlusNet 80/20 FTTC. It doesn't look good to me unless I'm missing something?

Re: BT Infinity Experience

BT appeared to have removed their affiliate offer that I'm guessing most people were watering at the mouth for and I resisted. I hope I don't live to regret that. Mind you past experience of their offshore call centres played a big part in that for me.
