Re: BT Broadband (+ phone) price hikes announced.

BT defended the cost of the rises, with the company's consumer chief executive John Petter saying that, "Customers will get a better package and improved service from us this year in exchange for paying a little more.

Re: BT Broadband (+ phone) price hikes announced.

The line rental price is staying the same, it's ADSL broadband that's increasing by £2/month.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/01/20/bt_hikes_broadband_and_tv_prices/

"All basic broadband packages will increase by £2 per month" where basic = ADSLx, the other linked articles used the term "copper broadband".

Re: BT Broadband (+ phone) price hikes announced.

It looks like the real reason is that the customers, us, are having to pay for BT's very bad Italian investment. It looks so bad that I wouldn't be surprised to see more rises to come.

Re: BT Broadband (+ phone) price hikes announced.

Did they have an actor called Michael Caine in charge of their Italian Job?  A small wonder the current BT Management need the extra money. Watch this trickle through as price increases to PlusNet.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

It seems that BT stands for 'By the Testicles' - because that's what it feels like.

I know where I am, I've been lost here before.

I don't suppose there has ever been a large company, in the recent past, who have charged customers more to ensure that their revenues meet their own needs, despite the companies inefficency, incompetence and possibly corrupt actions.

Free Viagra with every bill?

@agedgopher  A couple of decades ago the Post Office was making massive profits but the postage still went up so it isn't just something that affects private companies with greedy shareholders.

At my vintage I have a continuous supply of free Niagra!Funny

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: BT Broadband (+ phone) price hikes announced.

and now SKY:

" Sky is increasing the price of its line rental by more than four times the rate of inflation for the second time in 18 months.

The price of Sky's line rental will go up from £17.40 to £18.99 a month, an increase of 9pc. The higher cost will apply from March.

It last increased the cost of line rental in December 2015, when it went up from £16.40 to £17.40.

According to Ofcom, landline prices have risen by 41pc since 2010 when adjusted for inflation, while the wholesale price of providing a phone line has fallen by a quarter. "

Re: BT Broadband (+ phone) price hikes announced.

The c£10,000,000,000 hole in the BT pension fund will have to be plugged somehow and it seems it will be largely by customers and not shareholders.
