BT Announces Yet Another Round Of Phone Service Price Rises

Happy New Year 2014! How long before Plusnet and others follow suit?
Interestingly BT's Line Rental Saver will NOT be going up.

Well PN just put it up so I doubt it will be going up AGAIN - luckily ( Huh) I just renewed my LRS so even if it does go up I have until next year to look again.

The only thing I'm confident about is that contracts only apply to the customer.

Re: BT Announces Yet Another Round Of Phone Service Price Rises

According to this report BT are also introducing a £1.75 fee for both the free BT Answer 1571 and BT Privacy with Caller Display and automatically opting people in even if they've only used the service once many years ago.
Is PN planning to charge for the 'free' 1571 service?

Re: BT Announces Yet Another Round Of Phone Service Price Rises

That will annoy a number of people who stay with BT because of free caller display and will totally sprag our hopes of getting it free with Plusnet instead of 1571
At £1.75 a month each - makes Plusnet look positively cheap - at the present time  Shocked

Customers opted into BT Answer 1571 can continue to get the service for free if they agree to sign up to line rental with the company for another year.

Re: BT Announces Yet Another Round Of Phone Service Price Rises

BT offered to continue free evening & weekend UK calls - but only for the next 12 months.
Since I make few daytime calls, BT is currently much better than Plusnet.
They also offered to reduce my monthly direct debit charges for rental and all calls to £20 per month.
BTW I phoned their call centre & I spoke to someone who could speak in English.

This is what happens when the need to pay for the nearly £1bn investment on the sports package. I rang their so called cancellations team last week for a customer, ( basic spend of £37.50 a month) they was offered £ 1.70 a month discount for a new 12 month contact , obviously i got their mac code  Smiley

Great - and then they wonder why people use mobiles and don't use their landlines at all.
A friend of mine has a landline for broadband only, he doesn't even have a landline phone in his house.

When the price rise noise at plusnet settles down I expect they will then announce their "free" TV package.

This is why I binned BT for Talk Talk about 3 years ago, Talk Talk have cheaper call charges as well.
