Re: BBC top salaries

I remember an old program where they got a few "ordinary people" to read the news and weather.

After a few hours practice you couldn't tell the difference to a "pro".

Yet some of these pro's are treated and paid like stars.

Damned if I know why.

And when it comes to a lot of actors, most of the skill lies with the casting director.

Re: BBC top salaries

Chris Evans topped the table, in a salary bracket of £2,200,000 - £2,249,999.

He was followed by Gary Lineker, Graham Norton and Jeremy Vine -

Can't see any of them worth what they are paid:shocked:

Re: BBC top salaries

Certainly not, but if my face can up your rating to earn your network £100m, then I must be 'worth' a percentage of that.

It's a funny unfair world for us mere mortals that's for sure.

And I bet they have no problems finding a car parking space.

You mean their chauffeur has no problem finding a parking space.

Re: BBC top salaries

Just seen the salaries for the Today programme, compared with John Humphrys that woman, Mishal Husain is grossly overpaid.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: BBC top salaries

What is ironic is Derek Thompson, a nurse in Casualty, earning greater than 10 times a Nurses salary.

Re: BBC top salaries

What about a nurse earning 7 times a carers allowance for a lot less hours.

Re: BBC top salaries

This kerfuffle is just what anti BBC john Snake Whittingdale wanted to cause. Transparency was a con; real aim is destruction.

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: BBC top salaries

'Stars' are clearly an asset to broadcasters so why don't they do what football clubs do and sell them when no longer needed or wanted?  That way you'd have full transparency and the market dictating the transfer fee and salary.   They could even do swaps, e.g. the BBC could offer C4 a Norton for an Edmonds (no stranger to swaps himself).
