BBC News Stupidity

Maybe I'm bitter because my TV Tax of of £142.50 is due, but ..
Had the following gem of information from BBC News:
Quote
"Bankers have made an astonishing mess of the financial system," said committee chairman John McFall

Even worse, the big headline is "Bankers made 'astonishing mess'". What a shocker.
Quality reporting.
I thought ITV would be hard to beat, but the BBC are managing it.
I'm watching too much TV at the moment, especially daytime. I forgot how awful it was.
Need to get another job, to get away from this Smiley

Doesn't take a genius to know that - it's pretty obvious.
Yes, daytime TV is pretty awful, very time-wasting and probably best avoided.
Maybe we should go back to the test card until tea time?

Re: BBC News Stupidity

On the other hand..... pay your tv licence, and watch as much tv as you can, to get "best value for money"....... Cheesy
I often drive down a road, not knowing where it goes to, and also love driving into those "old corners" now turned into laybys....
just to make sure I am using as much road as possible, to get the "best value"  for my road tax ! !  Cheesy Grin

Hmm, not sure to be honest. I thought £139.50 was the old price and it recently went up.
A friend of mine warned me about the DD before I moved out, doesn't it charge you 6 months of one license and 6 months of the next one?
So I've not considered that, I just pay the year on a CC.
The other classic con the TV Tax people do, is that I originally got the license mid May in 2006, but it happened to expire end of April 2007 .. not the same date I got it in May 2007. So was conned out of two weeks. I can't remember how much it cost 3 years ago, but you've got to be talking about over £10 per month, so ripped off by £6.
A lot of money for not a lot.

Yes. My last DD payment was in Dec and the license expires on 30 June. BBC iPlayer will be more than sufficient for my occasional viewing.

Re: BBC News Stupidity

Technically you are only allowed to use iPlayer if you have a TV License Wink
Also, re: the 12month thing - this is no different to the first road fund license disc that you purchase for a car.
You lose any part of the current month, so you only really get 11 months, plus the remainder of the current month. Of course, when it comes to renewal, as long as you purchase your disc in the latter half of the month, it can start on the first of the following month, so you get a full 12. (Which is just the same as the TV License)

Only if you view live streamed TV over iplayer. If you only use it to watch stuff transmitted in the past (aka catch-up)  then you don't need a TV license. For the full SP see:-
