Re: BBC 3 to be axed.

Free licence to watch the BBC? Next thing you know people will want free newspapers.  I don't the quality will be reduced at all.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: BBC 3 to be axed.

Lets look at it a different way.
BBC broadcast these channels:
BBC One
BBC Two
BBC Three
BBC Four
BBC Parliament
BBC News
CBBC Channel (8 year-olds-)
CBeebies (1-7 year-olds)
BBC Alba
Free-to-Air
Yesterday
Dave
Really
Subscription (Cable & Satellite):
Gold
Watch
Alibi
Blighty
Eden
Home
Good Food
How many of these channels are aimed at the retired/older generation?
I would suggest:
BBC 2 (3/4 of the time) BBC4, BBC News 24, BBC Parliament, Really, Gold, Watch, Alibi, Eden, Home
How many are aimed at younger adults, in there Twenties and Thirties?
I would say BBC 2 for a couple of hours here and there, BBC3, Dave.
BBC 1 is designed to span all age groups.

So I would say that as per usual, the younger generation are getting the raw deal.

Re: BBC 3 to be axed.

In essence BBC is not a free channel. If we don't want to pay them we shouldn't have to. Just don't watch BBC! If you pay for a TV license then provide the customer with a viewing card (similar to sky)
The BBC just flutter my hard earned cash on shit like fancy iPads and iPhones!!

Re: BBC 3 to be axed.

The licence fee costs us less than 40p a day. I think this is exceptional value.  BBC News output is worth this on its own. They also produce some of the best drama in the world.

Re: BBC 3 to be axed.

There are those that do not watch any of the BBC channels
Therefore
Should they have to pay for the channels they do not watch ?Huh

Re: BBC 3 to be axed.

If you subscribe to SKY then you pay (plenty) for a sh**-load of channels you don't watch!
Back on topic-ish, I still like BBC3 but currently watching BBC4 (Paul Simon sessions) but it has occurred to me that Auntie Beeb is going to look pretty foolish with their main channel line-up numbered 1, 2, 4 (can't they count?).
