Yes I am a massive SG fan in general. I love SG Atlantis too although I think 5 series wasn't really enough and there was a lot more potential for it. SG Universe however.. that was utterly excellent. First series was a bit crappy (though we finally saw the 9th chevron in use and find Destiny which recharges from stars which I never got bored watching) but the second series with the drones and time travel etc was excellent. I was gutted with the bittersweet ending that we got at the end of S2.

Atlantis was built by the ancients who built the stargates. Atlantis was the city they had based on the south pole of earth but it was also a space ship. When they left earth they took it to the pegasus galaxy where they lost a war and sunk it under the ocean protected by the shield.
I actually thought the SG producers did a very good job of fitting ancient mythology into the stargate shows to be honest. The lost city of Atlantis being a floating island thats also a space ship with their most advanced tech and weapons was a superb plot IMO. Universe started weirdly but it got a lot better.
